AI Agent ROI Calculator.

Add the agents you'd hire and tick the work each one would take over. You'll see what that time is worth, what the team costs each month, and how many months it takes to pay for itself.

Build your team

Add the agents you'd hire, then tick the work each one would take over. The hours are placeholders, so change them to match your business.

Add an agent and tick the work it would take over to see what it's worth.

Add an agent and tick the work it would take over to see what it's worth.

You'll see the hours freed, what that time is worth, the monthly cost and how soon the team pays for itself.

We can work out a real number for your business. It starts with 30 minutes on your workflows.

How the numbers are calculated

Each agent you add comes with everyday work you could hand it, like sorting your email for a Chief of Staff or categorizing transactions for Finance, and you can add tasks of your own. The calculator assumes the agent does every task you tick, so it counts all the hours that task takes today. It adds up those hours for each agent, then subtracts the time someone spends checking that agent's work. Put the time it takes to review and fix the agent's work in those checking hours. What's left is the time freed. A month is 52 weeks divided by 12, or about 4.33 weeks.

Each agent's hours are valued at that agent's hourly cost. Adding up the agents gives the value of that time. An agent joins your team, and its costs, once it has a ticked task. The monthly cost is hosting and maintenance for each agent plus one ChatGPT plan for the whole team. Net monthly gain is the value minus the cost. Payback is the builds, one per agent, divided by the net monthly gain. First-year net is twelve months of net gain minus the builds.

The calculator assumes the agents are working from the first month. It leaves out the time your team spends with us in discovery and the coaching sessions, and anything the agents add beyond the hours, such as faster replies. Checking time is valued at the same hourly cost as the agent's work.

Which ChatGPT plan fits which kind of work is our rule of thumb. OpenAI says which Pro plan includes more usage than another but doesn't publish the limits, so look at your usage after the first month and move up or down a plan if you need to.

Time saved is not money saved

The value shown is what those hours cost you today. It turns into money when the hours go to paying work, replace overtime or a contractor, or let you put off a hire. If the freed time just goes unused, you have more capacity but no more cash.

For a business case you can defend, our AI agent ROI worksheet shows how to count only the part that turns into money. For what goes into an agent's price, see what an AI agent costs and our pricing.

Where the starting values come from

Each agent's hourly cost starts from the job that usually does its work. We take that occupation's mean hourly wage across all US industries in May 2025, from the BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics released May 15, 2026. Then we add benefits at the rate private employers paid for that occupation group, from the BLS Employer Costs for Employee Compensation released September 9, 2026 (Table 4, June 2026). The hourly cost is the wage times total compensation divided by wages and salaries.

Two matches are our judgment. Quality Assurance uses business operations specialists, because the work is checking documents, spreadsheets and routine operations rather than software. Account Management uses sales representatives of services, the same as Sales.

The benefits ratios use these June 2026 figures for private industry, total compensation and then wages and salaries per hour worked:

We read every wage and benefits figure from the BLS public data API on October 21, 2026.

The build and hosting figures are our published prices, for each agent: from $1,000 one time and from $200 a month.

OpenAI lists ChatGPT Plus at $20 a month on its pricing page, and ChatGPT Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500 at $100, $200 and $500 a month in its guide to the Pro tiers. We checked both on October 20, 2026.

Every hour in the calculator is a placeholder we picked. A task you tick starts at 4 hours a week, and each agent starts with 1 hour a week of checking. No study gives these figures for your tasks, so replace them with your own.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate the ROI of AI agents?

Start with the hours each agent takes off your team every week, minus the time someone spends checking its work. Multiply by what an hour of that work costs you, and convert weeks to months, to get its monthly value. Add up the agents and subtract what they cost each month. The one-time builds divided by what's left is your payback period.

How does the calculator work for several agents?

Add each agent you'd hire, such as Finance or Front Desk, and tick the everyday work it would take over, or add tasks of your own. Each agent gets its own card, and its time is valued at the hourly cost of the job that usually does that work. An agent counts toward your team once it has a ticked task. Remove an agent and its tasks go with it.

Where do the hours come from?

They're placeholders. A task you tick starts at 4 hours a week, and each agent starts with 1 hour a week of checking its work. The calculator assumes the agent does every task you tick, so the checking hours are where you count the time someone spends reviewing and fixing its work. No study gives these figures for your tasks, so replace them with your own.

What does each agent cost?

Each agent is its own build, starting at $1,000 one time, with its own hosting and maintenance, starting at $200 a month. Three agents means three builds and three hosting fees. The final price depends on the scope of the work.

Why do the agents share one ChatGPT plan?

Your agents run on a ChatGPT plan, which OpenAI bills you for each month, apart from our fees. One plan covers the whole team, so it is counted once. The more work the agents do, the bigger the plan, from ChatGPT Plus at $20 a month to ChatGPT Pro 500 at $500. The calculator starts at Steady for one agent and Very heavy for two or more, and you can change it.

Where does each role's hourly cost come from?

Each role starts from the average US hourly wage for the job that usually does its work, then adds benefits. Finance, for example, uses bookkeeping, accounting, and auditing clerks, who earned $25.75 an hour on average in May 2025. Private employers paid office and administrative workers $36.73 an hour in total in June 2026, of which $25.22 was pay. Adding benefits at that rate gives $37.50 an hour. Both figures come from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the table on this page lists every role. If you have your own payroll numbers, use them.

Is time saved the same as money saved?

No. The value shown is what those hours cost you today. It turns into money only when the hours go to other paying work, replace overtime or a contractor, or let you put off a hire. If the time just goes unused, you have more capacity but no more cash.

What do the build and the monthly fee cover?

The build starts at $1,000, one time. It covers a turnkey agent tailored to your processes and tools, plus three coaching sessions for your team. Hosting and maintenance starts at $200 a month and covers your own managed environment, monitoring, routine updates, email support during Pacific business hours, and small changes as your work evolves.

Does the calculator save what I enter?

No. It runs in your browser and doesn't send the numbers you enter anywhere.
